St.George's Cathedral Elders' Association is a group of men above 45 years. The Association was started on 03.02.2007 with 287 members.
Elders' Association lives up to it's motto " Worship, Study and Charity " .
Worship & Charity are of utmost importance to the Association and the members strive to spread its main aim by taking active role in all important Church functions and in every kind of Charity work.
The Association is very active in many charity schemes. The scheme ' Karunyam Padhathi ' distributes a fixed amount every month to the deserving widows. At present 18 widows are benefitted with this scheme. Every year Medical Camps are conducted with free medical check ups and medicines are supplied free for all the eligible patients. Free Diabetic & Cataract Detection Camps were held and 8 patients were given free Cataract operation by the Lions Hospital at Sasthamugal. The Association takes a keen interest in visiting hospitalized patients who are in critical condition and offers timely financial help. The Association members make house visits in case of death.
Devotees who have made numerous pilgrimages to Manjanikkara by foot were honored by presenting them with mementoes. Teachers who have rendered their services to the Sunday school for many years were also honored. A pilgrimage was arranged to Kattachira Church.
Every Easter, they visit Koratty Leprosy Hospital. The inmates are given presents of many kinds. The Association has extended its services even into our day to day lives. A class was conducted by the Association to promote vegetable cultivation in every home. Vegetable saplings and fertilizers were distributed.
The Association pay their respects to the older generation above 80 years, by honoring them in a function every year. Last year the Annual Day was celebrated in a grand manner. The family get together was a great event, the variety entertainments were enjoyed by one and all.
